About

I live and work on a small island off the coast of Maine. As a lifelong journalist and editor, I've written about technology, healthcare, forest resources, the working waterfront and politics for dozens of newspapers, magazines and websites. In 2003 I co-founded a digital media company where I launched several award-winning B2B newspapers and a variety of websites, and served as the company's CEO between 2008 and 2014.

These days, I'm a part-time reporter for my hometown weekly and a regular contributor to Northern Woodlands magazine. If you'd like to learn more about my work, see my portfolio, services and experience at the Storyjack.me. Information about how I built this site are available on the Colophon page. You can also reach me via my Contact page.

Every day, we generate 2.5 quintillion bytes of data. Numbers, words, statistics, snapshots… But without a story to infuse the data with meaning, it’s all babble. Stories teach us how to live, when to act, why to stand up, who to turn to and where to go.
